This was my last painting I did on my trip to visit family. My sister-in-law has the most amazing home with beautiful objects and paintings at every corner and wall space of their beautiful home. Not only that a beautiful flowering garden to draw from with flower vases also placed all around. I'd love to paint interiors and all the lovely collection of objects so creatively placed there but I will now have to consider doing that with photos as I'm home. I wanted to capture this piece in a painting because it was so unique and I didn't want to just have my photos to work from.
I was limited somewhat by time so I kept this loose and painter. I took with me a limited palette to travel with and was working with a warm/cool primary and it worked pretty well with what I wanted to capture here. For some of the landscapes I was having a bit of a struggle with that palette, to maintain a good harmony with the landscapes but maybe this wasn't the palette at all. But me not being thoughtful ahead with the harmony I was going for. The still life setup is a little easier as the harmony was in the setup to start with.
