Denise Maxwell has been recognized primarily as an oil painter. Recently her paintings have focused on realistic and detailed images of poppies. Her technique involves adding a glazing medium to the paints and building up layer upon layer of colour. This gives the paintings a glossy surface and creates an illusionary inner glow while maintaining a lusciousness of colour. |
