Garden Color Studies

In these color studies my intent is to separate the large color shapes before me and define each of them with only two values, a light side and a shadow side.

This is my beginning efforts from a lesson through the Virtual Art Academy.
The trick to doing these kinds of studies is not only to limit the number of flat shapes but to correctly match color and value. Simple as it may sound this skill takes many years and many paintings to master.
